What is Universal Minerals, Inc. (UMI) doing to further technologies that
support customers needs?
At UMI we listen to our customers' needs and develop just the right abrasive
formulation for their particular application. We also always aim to fulfill our
customer's needs in the most cost-effective manner possible.
We were the first to introduce an
environmentally-friendly, non-sparking, yet aggressive
MaxxStrip soda blasting abrasive for use
in food processing, petrochemical plants, building restoration, auto restoration,
etc. We expanded markets for MaxxStrip with our MaxxStrip Pool
Tile Cleaning Abrasive Formula (PF-2) that is specially formulated for cleaning swimming
pool tiles. It is blended to flow through equipment and provide less floating
debris for quicker cleanup. We took this formula one step further with our
MaxxStrip PT-2, a more aggressive formulation designed for Pebble Tec and stone
pool waterlines. We have also created a baking soda and garnet abrasive blend
called Sofstrip Profile Formula. This abrasive allows our customers to get
a profile on steel with easy cleanup. In addition, UMI has developed a proprietary
formula blasting abrasive for mold remediation.
UMI has also developed its own dry and water blasting equipment line that is
cost-effective and easy to use. Examples of our equipment include our
RIP 4000 Water Blasting equipment for introducing abrasives into ultra-high pressure
wet blasting; Power Lance for tube bundle cleaning; and
MaxxClean Pool Cleaning System for introducing abrasive into low pressure water blasting.
Supply chain management is becoming critical for operators as they seek ways to
reduce costs. What is UMI's proposition in this regard?
Our extensive warehouse system allows our customers to enjoy on-time
deliveries of their raw material abrasives. Freight costs are also reduced by
stocking our product closer to the operator. Furthermore, freight to customers for
equipment is reduced by combining truck shipments of equipment with our routine
abrasive shipments to our warehouse system.
